Unethical Behavior at Country Lane Montessori: A Concerned Parent's Perspective

Introduction

As parents, we entrust our children to educational institutions with the expectation that they will not only receive a quality education but also be nurtured in an environment that promotes strong moral character. Unfortunately, my recent experiences with the owners of Country Lane Montessori in Bolivar, Missouri have compelled me to share some deeply troubling concerns about the conduct and integrity of the individuals associated with this institution. This protest does not come easily. I fully support what a true Montessori learning facility can offer! My daughter spent the majority of her young learning life very firmly planted in a Montessori setting. From ages 3 to 10 she lived and thrived in the Montessori learning experience. However, this was in a fully certified Montessori school with fully certified staff, not the basement of a house with 5 unemployed adults attempting to gain attention by using the term Montessori.

The Disturbing Incidents

Over the past few months, my family has witnessed and experienced disturbing incidents involving Mary and Jay at Country Lane Montessori. Specifically, there have been repeated instances where an aggressive dog, at first just visiting and now seemingly a full time nuisance, was allowed to roam freely with the apparent intention of provoking conflict with our family farm dog.

Attempts at Dialogue

Regrettably, our attempts to address these concerns directly with these people have been met with dishonesty, evasion of responsibility, and a lack of transparency. This behavior is not only deeply unsettling but also raises questions about the values upheld by Country Lane Montessori. To add salt into the wounds, we have been getting veiled threats trying to incite fear towards the well being of our dog Frankie. These messages include passive aggressive warnings about traps or other hunting accidents and threats about contacting the authorities for various lies and misinterpretations of the law.. all while we have kept Frankie inside and near-by for fear of these horrible people trying to injure her or worse.

A Lack of Moral Fiber and Empathy

The incidents in question and the subsequent response from the very people who run this business reveal a clear lack of moral fiber, empathy, and respect for the well-being of others. These actions are not in line with the principles of honesty, integrity, and empathy that are fundamental to a Montessori education.

Concerns About Role Modeling

As parents, we look for educators and institutions that serve as positive role models for our children. Individuals who engage in deceptive practices, exhibit aggressive behavior, and refuse to take responsibility for their actions are not suitable role models for our impressionable young ones.

A Call to Action

In light of these troubling incidents, I am left with no choice but to voice my strong objection to the unethical behavior displayed by the individuals associated with Country Lane Montessori. I urge any parent looking for Montessori style schooling, tutoring or homeschool support to run very far away from this uncertified and unaccredited Montessori school. It is my hope that our family's suffering at the hands of these people can shine a light on their actions and help save others from having to interact with this business or the people who run it.

Conclusion

This blog post serves as a concerned parent's perspective on the troubling incidents at Country Lane Montessori. It is a call to action for transparency, accountability, and a commitment to the values that make Montessori education a choice for parents seeking not only academic excellence but also the development of strong moral character in their children. As parents, let us collectively advocate for the well-being and ethical education of our children.
